Kingswood North is one of a series of private and public estates surrounding Kingswood village, which comprises The Glade, Forest Drive and most of the spur roads leading off them. Owned and operated by its residents, the Kingswood North Estate Company Ltd (KNECL) enjoys a friendly community spirit, offering the opportunity for both privacy and connectedness.
All of KNECL’s board and road committee members are residents and, through share ownership, all homeowners are offered a say in the management of the company and of the estate. Key news and developments are regularly shared with residents and both the company and its road committees hold annual shareholder/resident meetings. Occasional resident gatherings and celebrations are also held on the central green with its unique listed lamp standard.
KNECL’s directors and officers work closely with other local groups such as the broader Kingswood Residents’ Association (KRA) and Kingswood Village Community Association (KVCA) as well as representatives from other local estates, to enhance the wider community and maintain the special characteristics of the area.
Village
Kingswood village centre offers a good variety of local shops and restaurants including a general store, off-licence/store, travel agent, beauty parlours, gentlemen’s barbers, pet store, café, restaurants and the widely-known Kingswood Arms pub. The village hall, run by the KVCA, is actively used by a number of groups including the Kingwood Amateur Dance & Drama Society as well as Pilates, yoga and other fitness groups.
The late Victorian railway station sits in the heart of the village and provides direct services to London Victoria and London Bridge.
